1.0 INTRODUCTION
The objective of this essay is to reflect on how myself and the team collaborated in order to complete the Assignment 1 in our module.
In this essay, I will be critically evaluating the events and conditions that influenced our performance and how we managed to work together as a team.
The essay will also discuss Tuckman's Model (Jones, 2019) that includes the different stages involved in the team’s development, resolving conflicts and boosting confidence to accomplish the final goal.
2.0 BACKGROUND
We were a group of 5 team members. In the first week, we performed the ‘SWOT Analysis’ in order to figure out the strength & weakness of each individual and assign task suiting to their skills.
SWOT Analysis is an analysis method used to evaluate the ‘strengths’, ‘weaknesses’, ‘opportunities’ and ‘threats’ involved in an organization or a business activity (Emet GÜREL, 2017).
The initial stage of the project involved interacting with the team which was prevalent in the ‘forming stage’ as demonstrated in Tuckman Model.
3.0 CHALLENGES INVOLVED IN ASSIGNMENT
One of the major challenges was the “availability of data” on the brand that we took for the assignment. We had insufficient information for concepts including the Buyer Persona, Target Market and Key Competitors.
This resulted in creating a lot of problems between each other. However, I as a team leader quickly resolved the conflict by making use of an organized framework to generate data driven insights (Gupta, S. et al., 2020), analyze and prepare the reports.
4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WORKING ON A SIMILAR ASSIGNMENT
If I were to approach a similar assignment, I would first understand my assignment requirements, analyze and then choose a brand that has complete and detailed information.
The availability of clear data helps in structuring and executing the assignment in an effective manner and moreover it helps in saving enormous amount of time involved in research process.
5.0 CHALLENGES FACED BY TEAM WORKING TOGETHER
In this group assignment, we were facing few difficulties including the “lack of confidence, communication & resources”. In order to clear this conflict, we decided to motivate (Park, G., Spitzmuller, M. and DeShon, R. P., 2013) each other and also decided to utilize proper tools and systems to accomplish our goals.
6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE EFFECTIVE TEAM WORK
While commencing the assignment, it is always important to choose the project management and communication tools such as Trello, Jira, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Monday.com to effectively organize and deliver good results (Miloševic, D. & Iewwongcharoen, B., 2004).
